Plantronics, a leading electronic components manufacturing company, is proud to celebrate its 40th anniversary of operations in Tijuana, Mexico.
This milestone coincides with a significant investment of $30 million in the construction of a state-of-the-art plant. This new facility, slated to serve as the cornerstone of Plantronics' operations in Baja California, is set to integrate design, distribution, and logistics functions under one roof.
With a workforce of nearly 3,000 employees, Plantronics' manufacturing operations in Tijuana have been instrumental in driving the company's success over the past four decades. The addition of the new facility is expected to fuel further growth, with projections indicating a 25% to 30% expansion in capacity. This growth will be facilitated by the introduction of new production lines, as highlighted by Alejandro Bustamante Gutierrez, recently promoted to the role of Global Operations Vice-president from his position as President of Plantronics Mexico.
Situated near the Mesa de Otay Port of Entry, the new plant will not only enhance Plantronics' manufacturing capabilities but also set a new standard for sustainability in Mexico. It is poised to be the country's first manufacturing facility powered entirely by solar panels, reaffirming Plantronics' commitment to environmental stewardship. Operations at the new plant are scheduled to commence in 2013, marking a significant milestone in Plantronics' ongoing legacy of innovation and excellence in manufacturing.
