July 1, 2020 marks the date the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) goes into effect. After the successful twenty-six year run of NAFTA, the three North American countries sought to modernize the agreement and bring it up to date with our times.
With the arrival of COVID-19 in North America the federal government of Mexico began issuing decrees in March of this year to prevent spread of the virus and protect its citizens. The first decrees dealt with keeping the vulnerable like the elderly, immunocompromised and pregnant women, at home.
Tijuana, Mexico’s industrial real estate market is mature, modern and on par with U.S. manufacturing facilities. With the USCMA taking place officially starting July 1st, the road map is being set to be a complete replacement to NAFTA, which was enacted in 1994. The US Customs and Border Protection announced recently a USMCA center being erected in Washington, serving as a central hub for roll out in the upcoming months.
